A Simple Kitchen A simple kitchen offset with hand-crafted Aspen cabinetry, antler pulls, oiled and polished Douglas Fir countertop; the wood cookstove heats water and sends it through a convection system to the hot water tank; storage loft above, kerosene lamps at ceiling are lowered on a pulley system when in use, underground "root cellar" type pantry in back for cold storage. The builders of this home opted to remain off the grid, though access to electricity is nearby. Several small solar panels near their shed provide minimal electrical needs. There is something very cozy about a home without the interrupting energy fields of electrical wiring riddled through it. |
